Cannabidiol oil, or more commonly known as CBD oil, is a booming supplement right now. With recent law changes around the world, access to cannabis-based products like CBD oil has suddenly become widely available. However, with a product like CBD oil it can be hard to know how much to take, especially with all the variations in concentrations and quality of the oil that is available now.
The first thing to note is the varying names you may come across. CBD Oil and hemp oil are the most common you’ll see on labels. To break them down, most CBD oil comes from hemp plants and is the active ingredient in hemp oil, not to be confused with hemp seed oil.
Depending on the level of refining, the concentrations of CBD oil within the hemp oil will vary significantly. Some companies will sell an unrefined hemp oil which contains low levels of CBD, but still has plenty of other beneficial plant molecules. At the other end of the spectrum is CBD isolate, which is the fully refined version, leaving near pure CBD left.
No matter which level of refined hemp oil you’re taking, most professionals recommend starting off with a small dose, generally less than the label recommends and build up as your body gets used to it. People’s sensitivity to CBD can vary hugely, so starting low until you notice positive effects is a great way to start without overdoing it.
This starting amount would be around 5mg of CBD per day. While this lose dose is unlikely to be noticeable to most people, it is a good starting point to slowly increase and pinpoint a dose that is right for you. Look to increase your dose of CBD 5mg per day from there, giving some time for your body to react. Not only does everyone vary in size but also in how a body reacts to CBD, so there is no one dose fits all when it comes to CBD.
Most CBD uses take between 10mg and 30mg for general pain relief and calming effects. However in some special cases for a more extreme therapeutic benefit for severe pain, anxiety, or epilepsy dosages around 100-200mg are required.
Unfortunately, when it comes to CBD dosages there is no simple answer. Just make sure you identify the level of concentration on the product you’re using and hopefully these tips help you find the right dose for your body.
