Top Reasons To Buy A Handheld Thermal Monocular

thermal monocular

If you have ever used a thermal monocular for hunting, you probably know the benefits that come with this awesome device. Apart from hunting, you can use your device in other ways.

Hunting

As a hog, deer, turkey or coyote hunter, I am always looking for effective ways to take the lead. It did not take me a long time to appreciate the benefits of using a quality thermal imaging device. There are a lot of benefits and you will realise some of them on your own but one of the first benefits of using these devices is the ability to enter the woods and exit without spooking deer.

The first thing I do when I get into the woods is to scan with my thermal monocular. When getting close to my stand, if I see a deer on the corn pile then I will just stop and lean on a tree or I can sit on the ground and wait for it to leave. Without the ability to see in the dark, I would not have a clue that the deer were around and I would be climbing into my stand with the deer running off and making a lot of noise.

This does not happen anymore when I use my thermal imaging monocular. Also, when the sun sets, I scan before getting out of the stand. There have been a lot of nights where I sat in the darkness for over 20 minutes until a deer got out of my area. But with my thermal monocular giving me night vision capabilities that I previously did not have, a deer cannot be aware of my location because I know they are close and remain silent.

Track deer efficiently

Thermal imaging monocular comes in handy when it comes to tracking or trailing a deer. If you have ever shot a deer in darkness then you know that it can be difficult tracking them. If you made a good shot at the deer, a thermal imaging monocular will save you some time and make it easy for you to track the deer.

You should get on the blood trail the same way you would do without a thermal imaging monocular but you will use your monocular to scan the direction the deer ran. You will be surprised to realise that a monocular makes things efficient for you. When hunting with friends, they would call me to help them track down deer just because they know I have a thermal imaging monocular.

Locating turkeys more easily

Hunting turkeys is also exciting. There is nothing better than watching it strut and then there is nothing more depressing than being unable to locate any turkeys. If you know the area where turkeys or other birds are roosting then you will find it easier to locate them with thermal imaging monocular.

Nowadays, I always carry my thermal monocular for hunting with me. I can easily scan treetops to see if there are any turkeys roosting. Turkeys are more difficult to pinpoint than one would expect because their heads are the only part that will show a sharp heat signature and they get more cover from the trees during spring.
