The Different Types Of Night Vision Devices You Need To Know

When choosing cheap night vision equipment, you can get overwhelmed by the numerous options available on the market. However, it doesn’t have to be this way. Knowing the different types of night vision devices will help you make the right choice.

Active infrared devices

This device emits an infrared beam that illuminates the target. It converts an infrared image reflected by the target into a light image that can be viewed on the screen. It is mainly used for military purposes, reconnaissance, driving vehicles and photography.

It is not limited by illuminance and can be observed in total darkness. It has a very good effect and the price is very cheap but the viewing distance is short. It is also easy to be spotted by another person using the same type of device hence exposing itself. It is rarely used in the military due to more advanced devices that took over. Today, it is mainly used by civilians.

Low-light night vision devices

This night vision equipment uses the low light from the stars, sky, atmospheric glow and moon reflected by the target at night to enhance the image thousands of times. So that it can be seen by the naked eye observation, reconnaissance, aiming, driving and other operations at night.

Since the low-light device uses the night sky lighting to function, it works passively. It can hide from the hiding places in special tasks such as criminal investigations, military, drugs and more. Low-light devices have been developed for 3 generations.

A three-stage cascade low light device is the first generation. The second generation is comprised of a microchannel plate low light device and the third generation is the negative electron infinity photocathode intensifier device.

During the transition from the 2nd generation to the 3rd generation, a super 2nd generation photocell known as the second generation plus was designed. Its technical performance is second to the third generation product.

Thermal imaging devices

The basic principle of this device is that all substances with an absolute temperature that is higher than zero have the basic principle of radiating or emitting infrared rays and the difference between the background and target radiating infrared rays is used to identify the target.

Due to the different radiation intensities of different objects, animals, people, airplanes, and vehicles can be observed and aren’t affected by things such as fog, smoke, and trees. They can also work day and night at the same time. This is the most advanced night vision device we have. However, due to the different applications of thermal imaging devices, there is a huge market in the fields of underground pipelines, power, medical, fire, industrial inspection and disaster relief.

The development of cheap night vision equipment will be applied to the private market and contribute to mankind. The cheapest thermal imaging devices on the market cost tens of thousands. However, they vary in price depending on the quality, manufacturer and supplier. They are widely used in public security, military, border defence, bases, cultural relics, oil fields and so on.
